Clonmel Credit Union Supports CBS High School's 125th Anniversary Celebration
Proud Patron of Education Joins in Honouring Local Legacy
Clonmel Credit Union reaffirmed its commitment to supporting education and community by proudly sponsoring the 125th Anniversary Celebration of CBS High School, Clonmel — a milestone event that marked over a century of academic excellence and local impact.
Held at Hotel Minella last Saturday, the celebration delivered an evening of reflection, recognition, and revelry. Guests enjoyed a drinks reception, a four-course meal, and lively entertainment from The Pearly Whites, creating a festive atmosphere worthy of the occasion.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Austrian Ambassador Melitta Schubert, Ulrike Schoeller of the Irish Austrian Society, Dr Terry O’Callaghan, and Olympian Daire Lynch. A highlight of the evening was a short address from CBS alumnus Mark Hannify, now Director of Operations for Ireland’s EU Presidency in 2026.
Speaking on behalf of Clonmel Credit Union, CEO Pádraig Enright said:
Clonmel Credit Union was delighted to partner with CBS High School and support this significant milestone in the town’s history. As a community-based organisation, we share the school’s values of service, social inclusion, and dedication to future generations. We were honoured to be part of such a special celebration.
Ahead of the event, CBS High School Principal Karen Steenson had encouraged the extended school community to take part:
Let’s come together to honour 125 years of learning, friendships, and unforgettable moments. This celebration is about more than history - it’s about the spirit that continues to unite our school community. We hope to see past pupils, parents, staff, and supporters all joining us for what promised to be a memorable evening.
CBS High School, long regarded as a cornerstone of education in Clonmel, proudly brought together generations of students, teachers, and community members — not only to celebrate its proud past, but to look ahead to a shared future rooted in community values.
