Student Bursary Awards 2026

Clonmel Credit Union Launches €12,000 Student Bursary Award Scheme for 2026

Attention 6th Year students!

What would a €2,000 bursary mean to you? A new laptop, help with student digs, or support towards student contribution fees? Clonmel Credit Union is now accepting applications for its €12,000 Student Bursary Award Scheme 2026, which offers six bursaries to support students taking the next step in their education journey.

Supporting your next step

Now in its third year, the scheme will award six bursaries of €2,000 each to Leaving Certificate students from local secondary schools progressing to full-time third-level education in autumn 2026. The cost of third-level education can be high, ranging from €6,000 to over €15,000 per year for students living away from home. The bursary aims to ease that financial pressure and help students to focus on their studies! Clonmel Credit Union believes that strong communities are built by investing in young people and supporting them in accessing opportunities and reaching their potential.

Who Can Apply?

All Leaving Certificate students attending a local secondary school and who are members of Clonmel Credit Union can apply.

Not yet a member? No problem, you can open an account and then submit your application.

How to Apply

  • You must be entering full-time third-level education in autumn 2026.
  • Apply online via the application form below.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be contacted and must be available to attend a presentation at the end of August.

What’s Included?

Each of the six winners will receive a once-off payment of €2,000, lodged directly into their Clonmel Credit Union account.

First launched in 2024, the Clonmel Credit Union Student Bursary Award Scheme is now entering its third year, continuing to support local students as they take the next step in their education.

Pictured here are moments from last year’s bursary presentation, where winners, their families, and school principals came together for a proud and uplifting celebration. CEO Pádraig Enright spoke about the Credit Union’s commitment to making a real difference in the community, while Chairperson Eamonn O’Mara shared thoughtful advice with students beginning their college journeys. Each recipient received a €2,000 bursary to support their studies.

Building on the success of the past two years, we’re delighted to announce that the Student Bursary Award Scheme returns for 2026. Applications are now open to eligible Leaving Cert students progressing to full-time third-level education.
